We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated PYP 1/2 School Teacher to cover a maternity leave within our growing school from March - July 2026. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, a commitment to creating an engaging and supportive classroom environment, and experience working with young learners. This position is temporary, but there could be other opportunities at our school in the future.

ABOUT AMERSFOORT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Amersfoort International School (AIS) started in 2023 and offers English-language international primary education to children aged 4-12. We are an official International Baccalaureate World School offering the Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).

AIS is a Dutch International Primary School (DIPS) located near the historical centre of Amersfoort. The school shares a building with a Dutch primary school, De Kubus, and is governed by the AnnoNu school board, a group of 24 Dutch national schools in the Amersfoort region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • An understanding of Early Years & play-based learning.

  • Ensure that all lessons are well-planned, engaging, and tailored to meet the needs of each student, including those with English as an additional language (EAL).

  • Implement PYP (Primary Years Programme) or enquiry-led learning approaches, fostering curiosity and critical thinking.

  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity in the education and welfare of students.

  • Be flexible and adaptable to different classroom environments and age groups.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Primary School Teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a valid DUO certificate.

  • At least 3 years of experience in teaching young learners, preferably with PYP or enquiry-led learning methodologies.

  • Experience working with children who have English as an additional language (EAL). Additional languages are an advantage.

  • Experience in an international school environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to plan and deliver lessons effectively, with a focus on student engagement.

  • Flexibility and a positive attitude towards working in different year groups.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
